Rick Stanton and the Cave Diving Expedition in Pozo Azul

On August 29th 2011, Rick Stanton, together with expedition leader Jason Mallinson, René Houben and John Volanthen, have achieved a new world record in cave diving.   This team of cave diving experts managed to set a new record for the worlds longest cave diving penetration, covering a distance of over 9 km!

Earlier this year, we had a discussion with Rick about the previous expedition to the same cave, Pozo Azul in Spain, back in September 2010.  Rick talks about the logistics involved in such en enormous adventure.  He was right to say that we would hear back from them around August.  What a fantastic result!
